Seosamh Ó Broin

The hugely respected local historian and long-standing member of the Inchicore/Kilmainham Heritage group died on the eve of Samhain, October 30th 2022.

His love of the Irish language was reflected throughout his life and as Cathaoirleach of the local Conradh na Gaeilge over a thirty-year period. Remarkably his book ‘Inchicore, Kilmainham and District’ was re-printed four times, selling over 10,000 copies, which alongside a set of various community themed publications, and his seminal influence in championing the restoration ofRichmond Barracks and the cultural significance of Emmet Hall – represents a hugely fitting legacy to an extraordinary life’s endeavour.
