“To truly experience the impact a small number of volunteers can have – take a walk down to Turvey Park off Emmet Road, a project that emerged during the pandemic when the two kilometre radius restriction meant we paid closer attention to green spaces nearby. Two local women Julie McCormick and Mary Moriarty took it upon themselves to start digging and planting in the under utilised open space, having received permission from DCC. Now support from local groups has led to this hidden gem of a park becoming a vital open green space for us all.”
